Memory Capsule Drawing: Documenting our Elders
Life drawing is a visual practice of observing and celebrating life and the human form. There is no better way to do that than to honor and hear stories from our Elders as we draw them. As a society we don’t often get to see a mature face and body celebrated in media or in different art forms. This class hopes to engage in drawing and listening to our vibrant and charming Elders, as well as create intergenerational connections. You don’t need ChatGPT, when you have someone who has experienced time and life!
There will be drawing exercises to strengthen the connection between our eyes and hands. There will be a story portion of class that will open up as well to questions and conversations. At the end of class we will share all of our drawings celebrating our beautiful Elders.
Open to all levels of drawing. Beginners encouraged and Experienced will be expanded. Please bring your own drawing materials. There will not be drawing boards available. There will be many breaks and light refreshments. Please be mindful of our Elder models physical conditions as we work around traditional drawing class format.
